There appears to be a second button on the outside of the liftgate, on the right side (the liftgate open/close is in the center.) The button beeps when pressed but does nothing else that I can tell. Owners's manual comes up empty, but I may be not looking in right place. May want to first check your fuse box to make sure the liftgate fuse wasn't somehow blown during battery replacement. :edit: Also if fuse looks good, another step you can try is to manually open and close the liftgate using the emergency latch inside. a '16 CX9 user fixed theirs by disconnecting battery terminal but that was for a windshield ...This works for a 2014 CX5.. Didn't seem to work on the 2018.There is a manual release, it's located behind a square piece of trim on the bottom of the lift gate.
